![]() He’s not as fond of games as I am, and I admit I get it little frustrated if he can’t keep up. But last year, I found a game that was perfect for us: Chicory: A Colorful Story.Ĭhicory: A Colorful Story is a 2D adventure game about a dog with a paintbrush that needs to restore color to a black-and-white world. When Chicory, a famous painter and paintbrush holder, stopped painting, it was the player’s job to take over. The most exciting element (at least, for you, dear reader) is that it can be played with two players, with one person navigating the dog, Pizza, around the world, while the second player is controls the paintbrush. (Pizza is the dog’s canon name, but you choose a name based on your favorite food. If you’re me, Watercress is the name of your Pizza. If you’re review editor Mike Mahandy, Cacciatore is your dog.)Įach of the players has different abilities, all of which are key to solving Chicorypuzzles. The player who controls Pizza manages to navigate the actual game world-where as dictated by your controller, Pizza will go. This player is responsible for maneuvering through puzzles and interacting with the environment, and also communicating with unplayable characters. The paintbrush player, on the other hand, is responsible for coloring the world. The paintbrush moves separately from the Pizza, and the second player has a different color and brush they can use. They enjoy coloring everything, but it’s still an important part of the game. Many of ChicoryPaint puzzles need to organize the world in basic ways: For example, there are flowers that need color to bloom, and in their blooming state, they become bridges for Pizza to pass through. When they are colorless, they will return to small flowers, and the Pizza will not pass. Acknowledging its unpopularity, Microsoft first turned off the feature in Windows XP and then removed it altogether in upcoming versions of MS Office. These types of puzzles range widely in terms of difficulty and participation from both players, and the fun of it is in knowing what pieces are moving and changing, and how-or if-to color. Aimed to assist users, Clippy used to pop in MS Word while users were typing. They responded that many users do remember Clippy but not fondly.Ĭlippy was one of the intelligent assistants that came with the Microsoft Office with Office 97 and onward versions but were removed in 20 versions of the productivity software suite. The user wrote, “Bring the little dude back in Windows 11 for real! Clippy should replace Cortana.” However, another Twitter user did not like the idea. Official Twitter account of Oreo Cookies replied with a pleading face emoji, “This unlocked the deepest part of our memory.“ To Oreo’s tweet, Microsoft replied with a revolving hearts emoji accompanied with a picture of Oreo biscuits, except Clippy had replaced Oreo’s logo in the cookies. ![]() The picture posted by Microsoft’s official Twitter account, in which the animated caricature of the assistant can be seen on a white-blue circular gradient background, evoked nostalgic memories for Twitter users. Currently, the tweet has surpassed more than 1,25,000 likes already, which makes it official that the Clippy - or Clippit if you prefer the intelligent assistant’s formal name - is coming in an emoji avatar. To answer the questions, users had to like the tweet and if the likes reached 20,000, Microsoft would do it. ![]() Now that you are relieved, what happened was Microsoft put a cute picture of the once dreaded assistant - but now lovable, thanks to the magic of nostalgia - and asked Twitter users if they wanted it to replace the paper clip emoji in Microsoft 365, the new name for Office 365. The plan is to bring it back as just an emoji, replacing the pre-existing paper clip emoji. First thing first, Clippy is not coming back as an annoying assistant in Microsoft Office.
